Michele received the following email from Jeffrey Cohen (son of Aaron & Ruth Cohen):
For those of us interested in helping those victims in the NY/NJ area directly impacted by the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy, please see the attached post from http://www.giftcardrelief.org/
In identifying the immediate and long term needs of those severely affected by Hurricane Sandy in the New York metro area, “Gift Card Relief” was born out of a direct request from MetCouncil & JCRC NY to coordinate a national drive to raise funds for gift cards. These cards will be distributed in areas of need as identified by the relief organizations on the ground most active in working and assisting those that lost their homes, clothing, vehicles, etc.
We believe that donating gift cards are a superior form of aid for numerous reasons, especially during this current crisis in the metro NYC area.
This is a grassroots effort. All donations, a.k.a. gift card purchases, are sent directly from the retailers to the aid organizations for immediate distribution.
If your school, synagogue, church, or community would like to purchase gift cards in bulk, we can make that happen, and at a discount. Please share this site with your family, friends, and community so that we can quickly make a difference in the lives of those who lost everything in Hurricane Sandy.
